Doula Services

Offering physical, mental and educational support for expecting mothers

How Does HypnoBirthing Work?

HypnoBirthing® is an inclusive childbirth technique that views birth as a healthy, normal, and natural part of life, rather than a medical event. When fear and tension aren’t the focus during labor, a woman’s body is uniquely and perfectly designed to birth safely, calmly, and even comfortably. HypnoBirthing replaces the myths and fears that lead to anxiety and negative expectations about the process of normal childbirth with deep relaxation, positive birthing affirmations and visualizations of the wonderful experience birthing a baby can be. Families learn to follow their own natural instincts to allow their bodies to birth easily and more effectively–the way their bodies were designed to give birth..

Why Do I Need a Doula?

A doula “mothers the mother.” She offers continuous support for the laboring family. After attending so many births, these coaches have deep wisdom, comfort and encouragement to offer and they serve as liaisons between the doctors, nurses and your partner during the process. They serve as educators, advocates and cheerleaders for the laboring person while keeping the family calm.

Common Questions?

Many people need and want our services but have questions they’d like answered first. Here are some of our most common questions and answers about HypnoBirthing classes and doula services.

1. Do you take Insurance?

Doula Services: It is uncommon for insurance to provide coverage for doula services.  Past clients have successfully utilized Health Savings Accounts (HSA) to pay for doula services.
HypnoBirthing Classes: Connect with your insurance provider to see if childbirth education classes are a covered benefit.

2. Should my spouse come to HypnoBirthing class? What if we are unable to attend the weekly classes?

Yes! It’s vital they come. Your partner will learn tips and techniques to help while you’re in labor. HypnoBirthing is designed to support the entire birthing family.

Private classes are a great option for families whose schedules don’t allow for attending weekly group classes. Connect with Insight Birthing for more information.

3. Can we meet before I hire you to be my doula?

Absolutely! It’s essential that you feel like I’m a good match for your needs. Send a message to request a meeting and we’ll schedule a complimentary 30 minute interview at a day and time that works for us all.

4. What if I want to take HypnoBirthing and hire you to be my doula? Is there any discount for that?

Yes! If you decide to take a HypnoBirthing class from Insight Birthing and want to hire Whitney to be your doula as well, you can take $100 off the second service that you pay for.

    About Me

I am a co-founder and HypnoBirthing® practitioner here at Insight Birthing Services. Before becoming a certified HypnoBirthing practitioner, I completed a Bachelors degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Utah.

I had my sweet baby boy yesterday and it will be an experience I will always remember, not only because we welcomed our second son into the world, but because Kandice and Whitney from the Davis County Doulas were a part of it.

I had a set plan in my mind of how I saw my birth experience going and had my mind set on sticking with it after a traumatic birth with my first son. During the labor process things changed and my birth story took a complete turn from what I had expected to happen. I made a decision to change the place of my birth from my home to a hospital. This was a difficult decision, but Kandice and Whitney stuck with me every step of the way and helped guide me to having the most perfect birthing experience. They empowered me to follow my heart and trust my instinct. They let me lead the way, but stood firm next to me and supported me in any way I needed. Having them there was the most comforting and reassuring part of my labor. I will never forget the major role they played in welcoming my beautiful son into this world.
