My Story

Hi! I’m Whitney. I love being a doula and childbirth educator.

Before becoming a certified HypnoBirthing practitioner, I completed a Bachelors degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Utah. Even then I knew that my interests were leading me down a path that focused on families, couples, and children. I just didn’t know where that path would lead me.

After experiencing some unexplained infertility, I was finally pregnant and knew I wanted a natural birth. Having done a lot of research on childbirth education methods, I finally chose HypnoBirthing: The Mongan Method. I didn’t know what to expect but knew I wanted a peaceful and calm birth experience. I had struggled so much to have a child that I just didn’t want to have the kind of birth experience that television and old wives tales emphasize. I was so grateful to be pregnant and I wanted to welcome my baby to the earth with love, peace, and calm.

I had a wonderful birth experience, on my own terms and felt, after so many years, that my body wasn’t broken. My body was made to birth this baby and HypnoBirthing gave me the skillsets to allow it to do its job, without interventions.  After the birth of my second child, another wonderful experience, I decided that I wanted to become a HypnoBirthing practitioner. I completed my HypnoBirthing certification training in 2014 and I am so excited to share the HypnoBirthing philosophy with expectant families. I hope that you choose my class so that we can share in the joy of your growing family together.  If you would like more information about HypnoBirthing®, give me a call for a free consultation or check out my “About HypnoBirthing” tab that pops up when you scroll over the Insight Birthing Services menu button.

Although I had been attending births for over 7 years, I became a trained doula in 2017. In order to ensure the level of attention and support that I wish to give, I only accept up to two births per due date month. Email me at whitney@insightbirthing.com  or call/text me at 801-674-6492 to schedule a free consultation to see if we are a match.  â€‹â€‹

My Values and Beliefs

Evidence-based care

Some policies and procedures are not evidence based and do not adequately allow birthing families to advocate for themselves. I am passionate about helping families navigate tricky situations that can arise.

1.

There is no wrong way to birth a baby

This is very important! I believe that all women CAN give birth without medication and minimal interventions, but that needs to be their choice. It's most important to me that you feel supported and empowered in seeking the type of birth you desire.

2.

Your goals and wishes are important and what I focus on. My own personal birth choices have no bearing in helping you achieve the birth of your dreams.
